Visa: $50
Flights: the cost of flights will depend where you are flying from, when you fly, and when you book your tickets. My recommendation would be to set up a SkyScanner alert for a given month.
Tour Operator: $ 1,200 to $ 4,000+ (depends on which tour operator you take, the length of your journey, and travel style). Included in the cost:
Hotel & meal for the night before & the night after the climb (check to make sure this is the case)
Kilimanjaro Park entrance fees (for a 6-day/5-night camping trek fees are about $800)
Tent
Meals during Kilimanjaro trek
Recommended tips for the team:
Main Guide(s): $20 per day per person
Assistant Guide(s): $18 per day per person
Cook(s): $15 per day per person
Porter(s): $8 $10 per day per person
This is split between the whole group, not per individual climber
At the end of your trek, your guide will give you an envelop where you will put the cash and write who gets what
Example: I did the Machame 6-day/5-night trek with 5 additional people (group of 6). Our team included 16 staff total: 1 main guide, 2 assistant guides, 2 cooks, 11 porters.
Main guide: $20 x 6 days x 1 guide = $120
Assistant guides: $18 x 6 days x 2 assistant guides = $216
Cooks: $15 x 6 days x 2 cooks = $180
Porters: $8 or $10 x 6 days x 11 guides = $528 or $660
Group Total: $1,044 or $ 1,776 // Per person total: $174 or $296
